INT. SUBURBAN HOME - EVENING
A Post-Pandemic 2022 New Years Eve "spritzer" at a beautifully appointed Westchester, NY home. JENNIFER MARKS GOLDEN (50's) sits alone chomping on carrots. AMANDA MURPHY (20's) sits down next to her.
AMANDA
Hey, you're Jenn, right?
JENN
Yes?
AMANDA
I just met your husband, and he told me you have an idea for a TV show.
JENN
That's random. Why would he tell you that?
AMANDA
I'm in school to be a screenwriter.
JENN
If I tell you the idea how do I know that you're not gonna steal it?
AMANDA
If it's worth stealing, I'll write it with you.

Screenwriter
Amanda Murphy
Playwright · Standup · MFA USC 2023
Amanda Murphy is a screenwriter with roots in playwriting and standup comedy. Although her true passion is waiting tables, until a break comes along Amanda is earning a living as a freelance vertical microdrama writer and indie theatre producer. Amanda is passionate about telling stories for, by, and about women. Her original comedy play "Family Business" sold out Off-Broadway in 2019; she achieved her MFA in screenwriting in 2023, and her screenplay "Petrified" was a finalist at the Big Apple Film Festival in 2024. Amanda believes that "anything can be funny", and she loves to use laughter to make hard pills a little softer to swallow.
An award-winning singer-songwriter whose career spans music, songwriting, and now, screenwriting. Jennifer penned tracks licensed by Starbucks, Mattel, and Maybelline, shared the stage with Amos Lee and Joan Osborne, and opened for Cyndi Lauper. After a break from music, she rediscovered her creative spark — channeling sharp wit, life experience, and humor into stories for the screen.

STORY
What if yesterday you were so famous that you couldn't walk down the street, and today nobody would recognize you if they fell over you? Well, the characters in Starville have experienced this first hand and would love to tell you all about it over a cup of coffee where they'll hand you their headshot and resume. Every week, we will watch these voracious, indefatigable, slightly narcissistic C-to-Z celebrities try everything in their power to reclaim their former A-status. Unfortunately, in Hollywood, you're not easily forgiven, but you're easily forgotten.
As an all-inclusive apartment complex exclusively for entertainment professionals facing a career "slow", Starville was created to give Hollywood's down-and-going a place to wash up among their own kind.
CORE CHARACTERS
Chloe Bell (f, 32) — A model whose career was cut short by an unplanned pregnancy. Chloe is now the Building Manager of Starville and the mother of a teenaged boy who passionately desires the spotlight, much to her dismay.

Thom Cruz (m, 50, no relation) — An erudite, self-important and extremely sensitive screenwriter whose sitcom, The Honey Badgers, was canceled after one season.
Ken Kenman (m, 60) — A theatre director and acting coach who believes that THE THEATRE is as intricate and important as brain surgery.
Elena Aguilar (f, 25) — Was the biggest child star in the world when she was 8 years old, until she derailed her career with drugs at 16.
WHY STARVILLE
Starville explores America's obsession with fame and celebrity, both its allures and its pitfalls. Our characters are outrageous creatives with unusual perspectives, but they're completely relatable in their vulnerabilities, insecurities, and need for connection. Viewers will root for these charming underdogs to succeed, and will delight in joining a chosen family struggling to thrive in an industry that just takes.
